The Constructive Solutions difference

One contractor, start to finish

When you call Constructive Solutions, you get Mark: the owner, the estimator and the head carpenter. He meets you, prices the job and stays on it until it’s done.

Building since he was ten

Mark started working on houses at 10 years old, in the big Dutch Colonial his family moved into on Long Island. His father, Henry, built homes and did most of the work himself, so Mark learned on the job. He earned his first contractor’s license in 1980, built and remodeled homes and offices across Long Island and New York City, and moved his family to Wilmington in 1996.

For more than a decade he also taught homeowners on the radio, on TV and in his newspaper column. He still explains every job that way: step by step, in the order the work gets done.

He is also the author of Inspirations Given, a book of 32 short, true stories about faith.

The people you meet do the work

Mark works alongside his son Dylan, and his wife, Lynne, keeps the office running. We avoid subcontractors and outsourcing wherever we can, so the faces on your job stay the same from demolition to the final coat of paint.

You see every line item

Our estimates follow the order the work gets done, with a line item for each part of your project. You can see exactly how we arrived at the price, and use it to keep the job on budget.

Good planning is the most important place to start. If your project is a ways off, call early. With time on your side, you usually get better prices and fewer last-minute decisions.

Built for coastal Carolina

Southeastern North Carolina is hard on houses. Most of the trouble Mark sees starts with water: failing siding, damp crawl spaces and good old-fashioned roof leaks. He finds where the water gets in, fixes the cause, then repairs the damage.

Crawl space evaluation, moisture control, cleaning and containment are everyday work for us.

Questions

Frequently asked

Do you take small repair jobs?

Yes. Repairs are a big part of our work, from rotted floor joists and leaking tubs to water-damaged floors and termite damage.

Are you insured?

Yes. Constructive Solutions is fully insured and takes on projects under $40,000. Before you hire any contractor, ask for proof of insurance.

All of New Hanover County, including Wilmington, Wrightsville Beach, Carolina Beach, Kure Beach, Ogden, Porters Neck and Castle Hayne, plus nearby Leland and Hampstead. Not sure if you’re in range? Call or text Mark at (910) 231-6020. We also work for owners who live out of town.
